This semester flew by so fast! I am here to wrap things up for this semester. For my final project, I was asked to combine a few assignments together and make a creative wrap-up for this particular class. For this assignment, I wanted to tie together a Listicle and The Hacking Assignment with not only my dad but my mom.
From my previous Listicle, I mentioned things that would be an overall possible need for a softball trip and for how far you travel then listed the idea for what to bring. I listed off the essentials for every trip and then in every subsection, I added a few other things to bring for the said distance of the trip.
From my Hacking Project, I mentioned all the fields have visited since I have been playing, I realized later that I hadn't said much about my mom attending games and it hurt me a bit for not doing such. I plan to not only talk about my dad some more but also about my mom because they are both huge supporters and the main reason I got to continue playing softball up to now.
I will tie these two assignments together by making a list of the items my parents would bring with them along their journey to drive out to see me the further out I have gone for softball. As I stated in my Listicle, the essentials, and so forth, my parents never brought as many of the items as I had listed as every other "softball parent(s)" might bring for their travels.
The main items my dad brings with him on his journey, and my mom when she can attend as well are:
Cooler
Ice(from gas stations)
Folding Chairs(just in case)
Pain Pills are something either of them usually care in their cars for any purpose
Overnight bag for staying in hotels(toiletries, spare clothes, phone chargers, etc.)
Hat and/or Sunglasses, even if they don't use them, they are always on hand
Thick Foam Cushion; If it is just my dad traveling he travels until he gets tired and has a thick foam cushion he places in the back of his truck to sleep on with pillows and blankets
Sunscreen; Depending on the time of the year they travel.
Spare Jackets/Hoodies; never can be too careful
Cooking Utensils; generally every year my parents help provide a team dinner for the players and parents that are watching their daughters play as well. We normally make Taquitos for everyone who can attend
Every time my dad does make the drive to see me, I get extremely excited because it is comforting to see a familiar face from home and from before I made the journey to attend college. He makes it out at least once every season and I love that he takes the time to come see me do what I love. Now when my mom comes out, that is a real sacrifice because sitting in a car for long periods of time is not at all something everyone can do, and to see her in the stands while I am playing in college means so much to me because I know how hard it is for her to make that drive. Having my parents sacrifice so much of their time and money into allowing me to play the sport I love for as long as I have means more than I can ever put into words. Everyone goes through time spots for money and accessibility and my parents always made the sacrifice for me so I could play this sport, whether it be taking on more hours at work and working so much that it would be exhausting, or cutting back on certain purchases. They allowed me to play and I always tried to make it worth their effort because that is the least I could ever do for them after everything they have always done for me AND my siblings. My parents are the reason any of our dreams are possible. We owe everything we are to them <3
These are the fields that my parents traveled to, there are brief descriptions added to each pinpoint. Thank you all for taking the time to keep up with my blogs! I'm sure I will keep using this website for my travels with softball. Thank you! Until next time ;)
