Who Am I?
Hello! My name is Shenan Jackson. I graduated with a BA in New Media Communications, with a concentration in Journalism and Digital Media. I hope to use this degree and work in the radio side of media. Whether it be as a DJ, a talk show cohost, or an old-time radio host. I took the opportunity to intern with one of the local radio stations in my hometown when I was a sophomore in high school, and I fell completely in love with it. For those who know me, I HATE public speaking but when I was talking with the hosts, I completely forgot people were a thing. I thought I was just having a casual conversation with some pretty neat people. I am raised in a family of seven: my parents, two older sisters, a younger brother, and a younger sister.
When I first created this website, It was for one of the first New Media courses I had taken at Rosemont College. This website started out as a blogging site, an assignment with a bunch of small ones added as the semester went along. This website started out as an assignment solely based on my softball career and travels with the sport I grew up playing and loving as much as I needed to breathe. As I added more to this website, it became my portfolio of all the different assignments I have done throughout my two years of attending Rosemont as an undergraduate.
A little more about my softball career: for the majority of my life, I have played softball, from the moment I was a toddler I always had one of those yellow plastic bats in my hand. The reason for my love of the game is because of my family. Softball and baseball have always been what my family has done together for decades. Every summer we play with different slow-pitch teams in our town and play against one another. This year may be the first year my entire family will play with each other on the same team so we are all looking forward to it! Because of softball, I have traveled across the country. I started in Washington State. I played school ball, travel ball, and league ball. After I finished high school I wanted to continue playing the sport. I got a scholarship to play in the eastern part of Montana, I played in that area for a total of three years, and I continued playing throughout the state of Montana. I competed playing softball in the eastern part of Pennsylvania, near Philadelphia. After my first year attending Rosemont College, I was then given the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to play overseas in the beautiful country of Italy.
