ABOUT THE FOUNDER

Shelf Mates: A Romantasy Site

Shelf Mates was created for my thesis project at Rosemont College to develop a platform that fosters community and connection among book lovers. In today’s busy digital world, it can be challenging to find spaces dedicated to niche interests like the Romantasy genre. I noticed small gaps where readers and authors of this captivating genre could gather, interact, and access valuable resources easily—all in one place. I believe in the importance of building a network where people can connect with others who share their passion, encouraging lively discussions and idea exchanges.

Shelf Mates is valuable because it supports all stages of the reading experience, from news and gossip to event calendars and small business bookstores (coming soon), covering every aspect of a book lover's journey. It enriches reading and highlights the vibrant Romantasy community. Podcasts and chats promote engagement and meaningful conversations. The project builds connections and a sense of belonging among readers, highlighting Romantasy works and events for dedicated fans.

Ultimately, the goal of Shelf Mates is to make a lasting impact on the literary community by bridging gaps and connecting people. It is a space where individuals can celebrate their shared love of reading, explore new perspectives, and form meaningful relationships, all while staying up to date on the latest literary events.

More About Me

I've always loved books and reading about different visions and adventures through various authors' minds. I've developed a true passion for Romantasy books, both standalones and series. I am from the PNW, born and raised. I am 26 years old, nearing the end of my educational journey. I have two sides to myself. One is deeply immersed in books, escaping reality by diving into worlds of fantasy, adventure, and romance. That side of me is also finishing my college journey. In seven and a half years, I will have earned two associate's degrees (AA & AS), one BA degree with a double concentration in New Media Communications (Journalism & Digital Media), one MA in Publishing, and an honorary MA in Creative Writing.

On the other hand, I like to think of myself as very outdoorsy. I travel a lot by car, and I have been to 38 of the 50 states, mostly with family and friends, and sometimes alone. I just finished my last year as a college athlete. I grew up playing volleyball, softball, and basketball. Throughout college, I was given the opportunity to play softball and volleyball. Softball has always been the sport I am most passionate about. I was selected within my team to travel and play overseas in Italy in the summer of 2022. It was like a fever dream, and I hope to continue my journey overseas in the future. I was born and raised in the PNW, specifically Was
